POC / POV Success Criteria

Used in Module 11. Get every field agreed in writing by the economic buyer before work starts, not just the champion. Fill in the baseline and business KPI fields only if this is running as a Proof of Value rather than a pure technical PoC — see Module 11's distinction before assuming you need both.

POC / POV Scope DocumentAgreed before day one
Which one is this — PoC or PoV? Say so explicitly. A technical feasibility question and a business‑value question need different evidence, and naming which one you're running keeps the evaluation from drifting into the wrong one. Business objective The specific doubt this evaluation resolves — not "try the product." Baseline (PoV only) The current‑state measurement, agreed before anything starts. Without a written baseline, "we improved things" is a claim, not a proof. In scope / out of scope Explicit list of both — out‑of‑scope is what protects you from creep. Success criteria (3–5) Each one measurable: Criterion → How it's measured → Who evaluates it → Pass threshold. For a PoV, at least one criterion should be a business KPI tied to the baseline above, not only a technical pass/fail. Timeline Start date, checkpoint(s), end date, readout date. Evaluation team Named individuals on the customer side who will judge the result. Commercial commitment What happens, specifically, if every criterion is met — agreed with the economic buyer, not assumed.
