Pre-Sales: Zero to Hero — Building Your Market Voice
MOD 20

Building Your Market Voice

At the top of the ladder, the fork from Module 02 comes due — and a public point of view is the currency of the individual‑contributor path.

Practice Lead / Director roles are earned through people outcomes. Field CTO / Chief Solutions Officer roles — the more natural landing spot for deep technical expertise without a management track record — are earned through being a recognisably credible external voice: a point of view on where the industry is going that customers and prospects actively want to hear, independent of any single deal.

  • A consistent published point of view (articles, a framework, a talk) does real commercial work — it's social proof and authority (Module 04) operating before a deal even exists, at scale you can't achieve one discovery call at a time
  • Conference talks and webinars are pre‑sales activity for the whole pipeline, not a side project — treat them with the same rigour as a demo script
  • A named methodology or framework of your own is the clearest signal of Architect‑tier thinking a hiring panel or an account can recognise quickly
Worth naming directlyAn independent consulting practice, a published framework, and a body of writing built during time outside full‑time employment are not a gap to explain away in this context — they are, in substance, exactly the market‑voice work this module describes. Module 21 makes that case explicit for an interview panel.
